USWNT advance to Algarve Cup final after scoreless draw with Iceland
The US Women's National team (USWNT) advanced to this year's Algarve Cup Final after a scoreless draw against Iceland in their final group game in Lagos.
It was a game between both the top and bottom of the grouo with the United States topping Group B with 7 points from three games and Iceland finishing bottom of the group having collected no points from their three games.
Iceland did however cause a lot of concern for the USWNT with a lot of tough tackles and pressure on the ball. The USWNT best chances came from snapshots from outside the box by defender Kelley O'Hara and second half substitute forward Christen Press.
The USWNT are set to face France on Wednesday at Estadio Algarve at 4pm where they will be competing in their 14th championship game in a hope to win their 10th title. Whereas their opponents France are making their tournament debut and will be competing in their first Algarve Cup Final after winning all theirgroup games and topping Group C with 9 points.
