After his swift return to Bohs from Cork City due to work commitments, Bohs manager Keith Long described the re-signing of fan favourite Dave Mulcahy as “a great boost to everyone at the club”. The 37 year old spent half of last season on the sidelines through injury but if he can avoid regular injuries this season he will be an invaluable asset to the young Bohs squad with his experience, determination and undoubted quality.

A young newly put together squad will be looking to Mulcahy for guidance in what may be a tough campaign for the Gypsies.

Extratime.ie One to Watch: Dean Kelly.

After losing top goalscorer Dinny Corcoran to Sligo Rovers, Dean Kelly will be looked upon as the main man to supply some much needed firepower up front this season. As a prolific striker in the Leinster Senior League with Crumlin United, Kelly has not consistently hit the heights that he is capable of in the League of Ireland yet. However you need only look at the teams he has been with to know that he has the quality.

Playing alongside one of the greatest ever strikers to grace this league in Jason Byrne might just well be what Kelly needs to find that killer instinct. If Bohs are to have a successful season this campaign then Dean Kelly's goals will be a pivotal factor.

What to expect for next season:

There have been mass changes for Bohs in the off season as former manager Owen Heary headed for the Showgrounds and took the core of last seasons squad with him. The loss of quality players may be made up for in numbers as new manager Keith Long brought in 13 new first team players. For that reason, Bohs may be heading into the unknown this season as many questions will need to be answered. Will the squad be able to gel together, can Keith Long prove his managerial prowess, and will Dean Kelly be able to fill the huge void vacated by Dinny Corcoran.

If Bohs can emulate what they achieved last year then it will be a relatively successful campaign for the Gypsies. They finished mid table last season and also had solid showings in both the FAI Cup and the EA Sports Cup. A solid mid table finish and a good cup run may well be the target by Keith Long.
