Michael Duffy seals Celtic move
The current Scottish Premiership leaders have completed the signing of the Derry City player as one of their Deadline Day deals. He has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the club.
The announcement ends the speculation over the Northern Irishman’s future, with him having been on trial twice with Celtic over the past few months, the second of which saw him score twice against Tim Krul in a 3-1 friendly win over the Newcastle U21 squad.
Michael Duffy had a prolific season for Derry City last year, scoring eleven goals in twenty-nine league appearances, including a hat-trick in a 6-1 win over UCD. He also reached the 2014 FAI Cup Final, but ended up with a runners-up medal as St Pats won 2-0. It was his third season with Derry after making his debut in the 2012 season in a 1-0 win over UCD in July of that year.
The attacking midfielder took to Twitter to express his happiness over completing a deal with the reigning Scottish Champions:
Delighted to have signed for @celticfc its a dream come true, thanks for all the messages to much appreciated, cant wait to get started

He will be playing with the U20 development squad at Celtic for the moment, which means he will be joining up with Republic of Ireland u19 internationals Fiacre Kelleher and Eoghan O’Connell, both of whom are defenders.
Michael follows Niall McGinn and Paddy McCourt in making the move from the Candystripes to the Hoops in recent history.
