Cobh make changes as four sign up
Cobh Ramblers have brought their squad up to nineteen players after announcing the signing of Graham McCarthy from Avondale United and the re-signings of David Walsh, Kynan Rocks and Stephen Kenny.
Graham McCarthy has a history with Cobh Ramblers, as he played for them during the 2013 season after signing in July of that year. He made seven appearances before the season’s end and left the club for a third spell at Avondale United, where he has been until now. The midfielder has also played for Cork City and Douglas Hall but his Munster Senior League titles and Intermediate Cup medals came during his spells at Avondale United.
Forwards Stephen Kenny, Kynan Rocks and David Walsh will be hoping for a more fruitful campaign this year for Cobh, as the club looks to improve on finishing bottom of the First Division last year. Many changes already been made this season, with Anthony Wolfe and Joby Costello joining the backroom staff as assistant manager and goalkeeping coach respectively.
Kenny and Rocks both joined Cobh from Waterford United midway through the 2014 season and Rocks finished with one goal, which came in a 2-2 draw with Wexford Youths, in twelve appearances. Kenny also played twelve games for Cobh and scored both his goals in the last game of the season, a 3-3 draw with Shelbourne. Young striker Walsh made the step-up from the youth team last season and scored one goal in three appearances for the club.
While four join Cobh, one leaves as midfielder Garry Comerford has left the club to sign for Avondale United. He joins Shane Hallahan (Cobh Wanderers) and Andrew Neville (Carrigaline) in signing for local sides. Other departures from Cobh have included Martin Deady heading to Longford, while Craig Burns, Robert Birdsall, Bobbi Donoghue and Anthony O’Donnell have all signed for First Division rivals Waterford United.
Cobh Ramblers squad as of now: David Browne; Andrew Bhandarkar, Shane O’Connor, Brendan Frahill, Andy O’Connell, Rob Lynch; Graham McCarthy, Eoghan Murphy, Peter White, Ryan Goldsmith, Alan O’Flynn, Robert Waters, Keith O’Flynn, Ross McCarthy; Kynan Rocks, Stephen Kenny, David Walsh, Steven McCarthy, Ronan Stanton.
