O'Dowd latest arrival at Mervue

Mervue United have added another player with League of Ireland experience to their ranks with the signing of Castlebar native David O'Dowd.
O'Dowd, 26, appeared recently in a couple of friendlies for his former club Galway United but was not offered a deal. He now joins former Athlone Town team-mate Nigel Keady as Mervue continue their preparation for their First Division opener which will pit both players against their former employers from the midlands.
O'Dowd has also played alongside striker David Goldbey in the past for Galway United and manager Johnny Glynn will be hoping the pair will form a successful partnership. The squad have returned from a successful training camp in Spain and are finishing their pre-season campaign with a local derby against Galway United on Friday night in Terryland Park.
