Longford sign Ben Mohamed and Simon from UCD

Longford Town have completed the signings of Ayman Ben Mohamed and Kaleem Simon from UCD, and have brought their squad total to twenty, two weeks before the New Year.

Ben Mohamed was a part of the UCD squad since late 2012 but only played his first senior game for the club in 2014. The left winger started the first five matches of the Students’ campaign and scored his first goal for the club in a 2-1 win over Athlone Town. Unfortunately, a knee injury ruled him out for a large portion of the season but he later returned and finished with seventeen appearances for the season.

Simon only came into the senior squad in the latter half of the season, joining from their U19 team, and made three substitute appearances for UCD. The eighteen year-old can play along the forward line but was used at right wing last season when coming off the bench.

Tony Cousins told ltfc.ie that he was happy with his signings saying that, “The two lads are young, talented, and have already gotten a taste for first team football and I think they can be a great addition to our squad for next season.”

The two wide players are the third and fourth players to leave UCD so far this season, with midfielders Robbie Creevy and James Kavanagh joining Bohemians and Drogheda United respectively.
