FIFA Women's World Cup Draw Today

Yesterday marked the beginning of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2015 in Canada as the final pots were confirmed in a pre press conference ahead of today’s final draw.

This World Cup is set to the biggest tournament yet in the women's game and is the largest single sporting event in the World for women. The draw has increased from 16 teams in 2011 to 24 participating in the finals in 2015. There is also one notable difference to this tournament as it is set to be played on artificial grass. A highly debatable surface/venue selection which has sparked a lawsuit between leading stars of the women's game and FIFA ahead of the finals.

The tournament is set to kick off on June 6th 2015 in Canada which will be hosted coast to coast with games in Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal and Moncton. The tournament will also stretch across five time zones. Vancouver is set to be the final stop for the tournament when it hosts the World Cup Final at B.C. Place Stadium on July 5th 2015.

The official final draw will take place today, December 6th, at 12:00 pm local time, at the Canadian Museum of History in Ottawa. The draw will consist of 4 pots with each pot holding six teams.
