Hoops confirm stadium expansion plans
South Dublin County Council (SDCC) have confirmed plans to build a second stand at Tallaght Stadium, the new home of Shamrock Rovers.
SDCC have informed the Premier Division club that they are to build a 3,000 capacity stand on the east side of the stadium. Once completed, the new permanent structure will increase the capacity of the ground to 6,300.
Work is due to be completed by the end of June this year. It was announced earlier this week that Rovers' first game in their new home will be against Sligo Rovers on Saturday March 14 (kick off 7pm).
Tallaght Stadium is owned and operated by SDCC, with Shamrock Rovers the anchor tenants.
