Keith Long appointed as new manager of Bohs

Bohemian FC have wasted little time in replacing Owen Heary as first team manager, the club this morning announced the appointment of Keith Long as the club’s new top man.

Despite seeing his Athlone Town side relegated, Long emerged from the 2014 season with his reputation enhanced, having taking over a side that lost their opening ten games and impressively bringing them to within three points of safety.

The former St Patrick’s Athletic player takes over a Bohemians side that finished a respectable seventh this season, and his first task will be to address the future of some of the Phibsboro side’s players who have been linked with moves in recent days.

Speaking on the announcement, club president Matt Devaney believes that the 40 year old will be a good fit with the club.

“We would like to welcome Keith to the club and look forward to him building on the progress Bohemians made this season.

“Keith is a young and ambitious manager who matches well the ethos at Bohemian Football Club and will help develop it.”

The new manager also indicated his intention to hit the ground running as he looks to build on what was a positive season in Dalymount Park.

“I am delighted to be taking over as manager of Bohemian FC and I am very much looking forward to working at this great football club.

“Preparations for next season will begin immediately and we will endeavour to build on the progress made this year.”
