Cork City have announced the signing of Paul Deasy and Shane Duggan.

Shane Duggan, Limerick native has signed a one year contract with the club, having previously had spells with UCD and Plymouth Argyle. The 19 year old midfielder told CorkCityFC.ie that he was delighted to have signed for the club: “I’m delighted to have signed for Cork City. I was at Plymouth for two years before coming back to sign for UCD in July. I’m looking forward to the start of the season and hopefully getting the chance to show what I can do.”

Commenting on Duggan’s signing, City boss Paul Doolin said: “Shane was at UCD last season after coming back from England. I have been impressed that he has come down from Limerick every day to train with us and that showed real commitment. He’s done well in training, he’s a good little player and I’m pleased that we have signed him.”

Deasy, 20, signed for the club at Under 18 level, and scored the winning goal for the club’s Under 20 side in their Under 20 League Final win against Bohemians some weeks ago. The young striker, who joined City from Ringmahon Rangers, told CorkCityFC.ie that he was pleased to have signed: “I’m delighted to have signed a two year deal with Cork City. We had a great year last year with the Under 20’s and it was great to be given the chance to train with the first team in pre-season. Obviously I did well enough to impress Paul Doolin and while it has been hard to get used to full time training, it is helping me and hopefully I will get a chance to show what I can do.”

City manager Paul Doolin said that he had been impressed by Deasy in pre-season training: “A few of the young players came in to train with us in pre-season and they have done well. Paul has been training away and has done very well. He still needs to work on the physical side of things, but he gives us another option and hopefully the full time training will stand to him and he will continue to improve.”
