Friendly wins for Cork & Bray
Cork City and Bray Wanderers both ran out convincing winners in their respective pre-season friendlies on Monday night.
Cork grabbed their first win of pre-season with a 3-1 victory over local Munster Senior League outfit Blarney United at O'Shea Park. Paul Doolin's had to come from behind to earn the win. They fell behind after just six minutes when Gary O'Riordan headed home Sam O'Regan's cross to put the home side ahead. However, Denis Behan restored parity almost immediately, heading home Pat Sullivan's ball into the box on seven minutes. Sullivan was again the provider on 36 minutes when he set up Faz Kuduzovic who finished coolly from close range to put Cork into the lead. Substiute Tim Kiely then added a third to secure the victory on 81 minutes.
In Monday night's other game, Bray Wanderers recorded their second consecutive 3-1 win over Leinster Senior League side Newbridge Town at the Carlisle Grounds. Ian McNeill, Jay Kelly and Dean Zambra grabbed the goals for Bray.
A further three friendlies are scheduled for tonight (Tuesday 17th) with Sligo Rovers facing Longford Town in Ballinasloe and Finn Harps taking on Institute at Drumaloe. Meanwhile, Shamrock Rovers will play Phoenix FC at Scribblestown in Dublin.
