Dundalk confirm Burns signing
Dundalk have confirmed the signing of former Sligo Rovers and Bohemians defender Liam Burns.
The Belfast-native has agreed to join up once more with former boss Sean Connor having left Bohs at the end of last season. Bohs manager Pat Fenlon had initially been keen to re-sign the centre-back, who was an ever present in the Gypsies backline last season, but financial constraints meant he was unable to offer the player a deal.
Burns (30) has been training with the Lillywhites over the past few weeks. This is the third time he has been signed by Connor who brought the player to Sligo in 2005 and then to Bohemians in 2007.
He joins other former Gypsies - Harpal Singh, Darren Mansaram, Chris Turner and Thomas Heary - at Oriel Park. He is likely to be joined by a fifth in the coming days too, with midfielder Stephen O'Donnell set to sign on after failing to secure a deal in England. O'Donnell played in a training match for Dundalk against Athlone Town at the weekend.
