Davoren signs for Sligo as Djilali and Ndo join Limerick
John Coleman has continued to make changes at Sligo Rovers with the news that Iarfhlaith Davoren has re-joined the club. Meanwhile, Kieran Djilali and Joseph Ndo have departed the club for Limerick, the latter on loan.
Davoren returns to Rovers after leaving them at the start of the season for Cork City. The left back had played eleven times in the league for Cork before signing for the Bit O’ Red today. Previously, Davoren was at Sligo for three seasons having signed from Galway United in 2010. He was a part of the squad that won the League in 2012, the EA Sports Cup and three FAI Cups.
Coleman spoke to sligorovers.com about his delight in getting Davoren. The Sligo boss said, "I know Iarfhlaith's attributes and he will be a good addition here. He knows the club and he'll be keen to make a contribution.”
Whilst Davoren comes into the club, Joseph Ndo and Kieran Djilali depart. Ndo will be joining Limerick on a loan until the end of the season. The loan move to Martin Russell’s side will hopefully give Ndo game time after a frustrating season so far due to injuries.
Sligo’s manager said, "Joseph hasn't played a lot of games this year and hasn't featured under me.” He then added, “He has been a great player at the club and he's a deep thinker of the game so I think he feels he needs the move at this point." Ndo has been at Sligo since 2010 after moving from Bohemians.
Limerick’s manager Martin Russell told limerickfc.ie that he was pleased to welcome Ndo to the Shannonsiders, saying “He will be a valuable asset to us. He will not be available this week through injury but hopefully we will see him in a Limerick shirt as soon as possible.”
Russell also acknowledged that Joseph’s experience will count a lot at Limerick. “Joseph has a lot to add on the playing end too. He was very interested in coming here and he’ll be very valuable to us and will be very good for the players around him.”
Kieran Djilali moved to Sligo on a free transfer from Wimbledon AFC at the start of last season. He went on to make forty appearances for Sligo during his time and scored seven goals. Russell is delighted with the signing of “an exciting, attacking player”. The Limerick manager confirmed that “Kieran is in contention for Friday’s game against Shamrock Rovers.”
These changes at Sligo follow on yesterday’s news of Ruairi Keating and Regan Donelon signing new deals and Ross Gaynor joining Cork City from Sligo.
