Stephen Dooley signs for Derry City

The right winger has joined the club after playing college football in the US with Loyola Maryland. Dooley was a key player for Loyola this season and was also the team captain.

Peter Hutton has had his eye on Dooley for a long time. Speaking to derrycityfc.net, he said that he “was delighted to get young Stephen.” The Derry manager also added that, “he’s a young player that I’ve kept an eye on for a few years since he first exploded onto the scene with Coleraine as a youngster.”

Dooley played for Coleraine, scoring twice in eighteen appearances, until 2010 when he got a scholarship to play football in the US. However, Dooley did play for Coleraine when he was on trips home. The last time he played for them was in December 2013 and he scored as they won 2-0 against Ards FC.
