Cork Complete Cillian Morrison Deal

The striker joins the club from UCD on a deal until the end of the 2015 season. He was the Students top goalscorer, as he scored four goals in fourteen appearances for the club so far this season.

Speaking to CorkCityFC.ie, the former Derry City player said he was “delighted to have signed” for the Leesiders. He then added that, “The players have all been great since I arrived and have helped me to settle in, so I am loving it at the moment. I was out for a couple of weeks before the break, so I’m trying to get back to the level of fitness I need to be at and my target is to try and get into the team.”

The 22 year old also noted the good standard of attackers in the Cork squad as he acknowledged that “it will be difficult to get into the team with the quality that is there at the moment.” Morrison will now battle it out with Mark O’Sullivan, Danny Morrissey, Josh O’Shea and Rob Lehane for a starting spot.

John Caulfield was pleased to finally get his man and said that the striker is “another young lad with a lot of pace, a lot of ability and a great attitude,” and the manager also feels that “he will be a great addition to our squad.”

With the deal lasting into the next season, the Cork City boss also showed that he was planning for the future. He said that the club “are trying to build a squad over a period of time that will stay up near the top of the table and make sure that Cork City are force over the next few years.”
