Bohs suffer narrow defeat in Spain
Premier Division and FAI Cup champions Bohemians suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow in their first pre-season friendly in Montecastillo, Spain on Saturday afternoon.
Last season's top scorer for the Gypsies, Killian Brennan, fired Bohs into the lead from the penalty spot after recent signing Joseph Ndo had been felled inside the area. Pat Fenlon rung the changes for Bohs in the second half and Lokomotiv capitalised on the upheaval with two late goals to snatch victory.
Despite the narrow defeat, Bohs' manager Fenlon remained upbeat after the final whistle, telling the club's official website, Bohemians.ie: "I am very pleased with the way we played. We had a three-hour journey to get here today and following the delays we experienced in Dublin Airport, I think we did very well. Lokomotiv had already played five friendly matches before today so we were a good deal behind them in our preparations. They were a very good side with five international players and we pushed them all the way," he said.
Bohemians are due to return from their pre-season training camp next week and will face Longford Town in their next friendly at Flancare Park next Saturday (kick off TBC). Their preparations for the new season will also see the Dublin side take on Glebe North, Athlone Town and Shelbourne.
