Cork City Women's F.C. Announce Swansea Friendly
Cork Women’s F.C. City have announced an upcoming friendly against Swansea City Women’s F.C. in an invitational tournament on the 9th and 10th August. Further teams will be announced in the coming weeks but a further club from outside the league is expected to be confirmed in what will be an exciting pre-season for the Leesiders on the back of a formal partnership with Cork City F.C. & FORAS Trust.
Commenting on the news, manager Charlie Lynch had this to say "This is great news for our club and we look forward to Welcoming Swansea to Cork. They should provide a tough opposition and show how the squad will shape up for the coming season – getting to play such top quality opposition only two weeks before the season starts will really help us progress."
The club has also announced open training sessions for the upcoming season. The club will be looking for some of the best talent in Munster to attend with the chance to train alongside the existing squad and see the set-up of the club.
Lynch continued on this point “We’re hopeful the sessions will allow us to see some of the best talent that Munster has on offer. Stepping up to play at a National Level can be demanding and needs huge commitment but the rewards are there for the players who seize the chance. The recent link-up with Cork City F.C. also allows the players to represent Cork City at a National Level. If anyone is interested in attending the open sessions – they’ll get a taste of the training and set-up that we will offer for the coming season.”
The sessions will be held at 7 on Thursday June 19th in Cork Institute of Technology and 7 on Thursday June 26th at Bishopstown Stadium. All interested participants are encouraged to send a mail to info@CorkCityWomensFC.com.
