Bohs run rule over Canadian youngster

Bohemians have given a trial to young Canadian winger Cristian Nuñez López.

The 20-year-old former Lyn Oslo player has joined up with the Gyspies at their pre-season training camp in Spain.

Lopez, signed for Lyn Oslo in 2006 but failed to make a first team appearance due to visa problems. The youngster, who has been capped over 20 times for Canada’s under-21s, left the Norwegian side in 2007. Following that he had spells with both Toronto FC and Montreal Impact. He spent last year on loan with Montreal’s feeder club Trois-Rivières Attak, but has linked up with Pat Fenlon’s squad in a bid to win a contract for the 2009 season.

Fenlon is on the look out for a creative midfielder following the departures of both Mindaugas Kalonas and John Paul Kelly at the end of last season.

In other news, it was confirmed last night that Bohs will face Dundalk on the first night of the season in a game which will be carried live on television. The FAI are yet to release the full fixture list for the 2009 season and when contacted by extratime.ie would say only that the full schedule will be released later this month.
