GUST calls for support for season ticket campaign

With only four weeks till the start of the new campaign, Galway United have revealed that their season ticket sales to date are worryingly low and are urging followers to commit to purchasing one sooner rather than later.

Jeff Kenna's departure has had an obvious effect on sales, but Supporter's Trust Chairman Ronan Coleman insists that Ian Foster's decision to stay at the club is a sign that there is potential there for Galway to cement their place in the new ten-team Premier Divison.

While cognisant of the fact that the current economic recession is restricting people's purchasing power, Coleman stresses that hitting the club's target (400+) as soon as possible is vital for Foster to assemble as strong a squad as their budget will allow. With only 150 sold to date, an immediate response is necessary.

"There was a great increase in support towards the end of last year", Coleman told extratime.ie. "We had large crowds at our last few home games in Terryland, and brought 600 supporters to Belfield for our the last match of the season.

"I would appeal to all those people to purchase a season ticket this month. The additional funding will enable Ian Foster to add to his squad before the start of the season on March 6th. Ian has shown loyalty by choosing to stay with United, we now need to make sure that he can strengthen this squad to ensure that Galway United can push on up the table this season."

Season ticket prices have been reduced from E250 to E200 for 2009, with all adults season ticket holders also receiving a free "Terryland Tigers" U12 ticket. Season tickets are on sale from Zhivago Records, Shop Street and the club office in Terryland Park - (091) 767336.

GUST will also have a season ticket stand in Elverys Sports, Galway Retail Park, every Saturday until the end of March from 12.00pm - 4.00pm.
