League of Ireland Attendances 2014 - Gameweek 5

Another bumper crowd in Turner’s Cross eclipsed all other attendances for Gameweek 5 of the Airtricity League. The total of 5,676 was the largest of the season at any venue and made up 42% of the overall Gameweek attendance.
The games in Inchicore, Dalymount and The Brandwell drew between 1,300 and 1,500 people with Drogheda United just failing to break into the four figure attendances. In stark contrast to Cork City’s season high, UCD’s one-all draw with Limerick was watched by only 139, a season low across both divisions. With a student body of over 30,000 it is a disappointment to see should a small attendance.
In the First Division Galway’s crowd of 853 topped the list, with Shelbourne’s 2-0 win over Finn Harps coming second with 779.
The total attendance for Gameweek 5 was 13,376 (one estimated attendance – Derry City 1-0 Sligo Rovers). It ranks as the second highest attendance this season but the distribution tells a truer story as Cork City’s huge crowd somewhat buoys up the rest.
