Waterford confirm trio of signings
Waterford United have announced the signings of three more players. Defender Kenny Browne and midfielder Kevin Waters have both committed to the Blues for another year, while former Cobh Ramblers player Alan Carey has rejoined forces with old manager Stephen Henderson.
Carey also joins former Cobh team-mates Kevin Murray, John Kearney and Graham Cummins as new arrivals at the RSC. For Carey, however, this will be his second time with the club as he was also part of their 2004 squad which made it to the FAI Cup final. He has been at Ramblers since leaving Waterford at the end of that season, during which time he won a First Division title under Henderson in 2007, but has now decided to end his association with the Cork club.
Browne and Waters, meanwhile, have both extended their stays on Suirside. The pair were part of Gareth Cronin's team which challenged for promotion last year before fading towards the end of the campaign to eventually finish fourth.
Centre-half Browne also had an offer from Sporting Fingal but rejected that deal in favour of staying on at the RSC. The 22-year-old has been an ever-present at Waterford since 2006 and has developed into one of the best young defenders in the league. A left-sided midfielder, Waters has played with the Blues in every season, bar one, since 1999.
This almost concludes Henderson's squad building process, which should be completed soon.
