Extratime.ie Key Man: Keith Fahey
With 16 international caps and a League Cup winners medal won while at Birmingham, Fahey needs no introduction to supporters of the domestic game. The talented midfielder was the league’s marquee signing during the off-season and will be at the heart of the Saints midfield which is packed with talent such as Killian Brennan and Conan Byrne. Fahey’s performances will be vital if the Saints’ are to retain their status as Premier Division Champions this season.
Extratime.ie One to Watch: Chris Forrester
The U21 cap has set the league alight in recent seasons with his mesmerising performances. A young talent who will only get better with age and has had many potential suitors in recent times (Bristol City and Ipswich). A midfield that has the talents of both Fahey and Forrester will be hard to contain. Chris’s youthful exuberance and technique proved vital last season and expect nothing to change in 2014, unless he finds his way across the water before then.
How they did last season:
League: Champions
FAI Cup: Quarter-Finals
EA Sports Cup: Quarter-Finals
Setanta Sports Cup: First Round
Top League Goalscorer: Anto Flood (10)
What to expect for 2014:
The Supersaints were a joy to behold at times last season and it seems things can only get better in Inchicore looking at the quality of the players they have added to their already talented squad. If players like Fahey, Oman and Quigley play to their full ability it is hard to look past the Airtricity League crown returning to Richmond Park this season.
