Sam Byrne moves to Carlisle on loan from Man Utd

Republic of Ireland Under-19 international striker Sam Byrne has moved to Carlisle United on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season. The Dubliner signed for the Manchester United Academy in 2011 and will hope to gain valuable first team football at the League One outfit.

Byrne scored twice in three internationals in the 2013 Under 19 Elite qualification phase as Ireland failed to qualify. However he is again a feature of Paul Doolin’s squad who will host Iceland, Turkey and Serbia in May and June 2014 in an attempt to make the finals in Hungary.
