Bray sign six as the new reign begins
Alan Mathews has completed his first signings as Bray Wanderers manager with Jake Kelly one of the former players returning to the club.
Jake played his first game for Bray at the age of 18 in August 2008 and went on to make over one hundred appearances for the club over the next three years. He also scored twenty six goals for Bray in that time, most of which came in the 2010 season where he scored fourteen times to finish as top goal-scorer for the club and was the fourth highest scorer in the league.
Jake then left Bray to play for St Patrick’s Athletic for the 2012 season. He played forty-two league games in two years at the club and scored eight goals in that time. He picked up his first league medal last year as St Pats won the league title.
There was also another old face back in Bray with the news that Adam Hanlon has signed back to the club from Shelbourne. Adam moved from Bray to Shelbourne at the start of last season and played twenty six times for the Dublin club, scoring two goals in wins against Limerick and UCD. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough to stop Shelbourne being relegated at the end of the season.
After the departure of last season’s main wingers, John Mulroy and Kieran Marty Waters, Jake Kelly and Adam Hanlon are very much welcomed back to the club. There was also further good news for Bray fans as four players have re-signed with the club.
Defenders Dave Webster, Adam Mitchell and Shane O’Connor have all re-signed along with young striker Ismahil Akinade.
Bray will play their first match of 2014 in a friendly against Longford Town. It will take place at 7.45pm on Tuesday the 4th of February at the Carlisle Grounds.
