Kealan Dillon signs for Athlone Town

Former Republic of Ireland youth international Kealan Dillon has joined Athlone Town for the forthcoming season.

The nineteen-year-old midfielder left Scottish Premiership outfit St. Mirren this week and has lined up with Athlone as they embark on their first Premier League campaign since 1996.

While at Derby County Dillon represented the Republic of Ireland at Under 17 level and upon transferring to Hull City Dillon gained further international honours at Under 19 level.

Dillon was released by Hull last summer and signed for St Mirren. Despite making the bench he never played for the first team but having gained experience cross-channel he will be expected to play a big part in Athlone’s first Premier Division season in 18 years.
