Former Rebel O'Donovan off to Brunei
Northampton Town’s former Ireland U-21 striker Roy O’Donovan appears to be in talks to join former Cork City teammate Joe Gamble with a move to Brunei DPMM FC who are currently under the stewardship of Steve Keane who oversaw Blackburn Rovers relegation from the Premier League in 2011.
According to Cobblers’ boss Andy King, Roy has travelled to Dubai with his agent Eamon Collins for talks with representatives of the S League club with a view to a move to the far east.
The former Sunderland man has only recently put pen to paper on a new two year deal at Sixfields but it appears that O’Donovan will be permitted to leave the club should an agreement be reached between the two parties.
The Leesider has led somewhat of a nomadic career since his brief stint at the Stadium of Light under Roy Keane, lining out for Dundee United, Blackpool, Southend, Hartlepool, Coventry City, Hibs and now Northampton Town.
Roy will remain in Dubai for a number of days while negotiations and fitness tests continue, a decision is expected to be announced on the 8th of January.
