Castlebar Celtic 0 - 3 Galway WFC
A goal from Lisa Casserly sandwiched between a brace from Sinead Taylor saw Galway WFC beat Castlebar Celtic 3-0 in Celtic Park in the Connacht derby in the Bus Eireann Women's National League.
It was the visitors who started the better and they took an early lead through Taylor. They built on from there to dominate the rest of the half. There were goal scoring chances for Grainne Barret and Lucy Hannon but both were denied by Celtic keeper Rachel King to keep the score at 1-0 at half time.
The second half picked off from where the first ended with Galway doing the pressing and it came as little surprise when they doubled their lead in the 58th minute. Casserly showed her nous as she spotted the Celtic keeper off her line and scored by lobbing the ball into the net while the keeper rushed out into the box having expected a cross.
Three minutes later and they made sure of the points when they got their third. A mishit clearance found its way into the path of Taylor who broke into the box and shot low past the keeper into the net.
Galway eased up after that and Celtic found themselves on the ball more but spurned a number of chances that came their way. That win sees Galway go up to 5th, three points behind Celtic.
