Dunne appointed Galway FC manager

Former Cork City manager Tommy Dunne has been appointed team manager for the newly formed Galway Football Club as they enter the Airtricity League for the 2014 season. 

 

 

He previously had spells managing Cork City and Finish club SJK. He also had a distinguished League of Ireland playing career with spells at Home Farm, Dundalk, Shelbourne, Derry City and Shamrock Rovers. 

 

 

Dunne was appointed the Cork manager in 2010 and gained the club promotion to the Premier Division in his second season. He lost his job at Turners Cross in August of this year after a run of four defeats in six games which dragged the club towards the lower regions of the league. 

 

 

In a statement released by Galway FC, they were keen to focus on the successful period of Dunne’s spell at Cork City and how he could replicate this at Galway.

 

 

“Tommy’s managerial success with Cork from start-up and working with a tight budget coupled with his ambition, energy and enthusiasm matched our vision for the club and without doubt makes him the right person to bring Galway Football Club forward.
