Baraclough renews Sligo Rovers contract

Ian Baraclough has signed a new one-year-deal with Sligo Rovers that will see remain as first-team manager for the 2014 campaign.

 

The Leicester native has enjoyed two successful seasons since his arrival at The Showgrounds in February 2012, guiding the club to their first League title since 1977 last year, followed by a dramatic FAI Ford Cup Final victory over Drogheda United two weeks ago, making him the first manager in Rovers history to win both trophies.

 

Baraclough also overseen The Bit O’Red’s best ever start to a season this year with eight consecutive victories in the League along with two wins over Glentoran in the Setanta Sports Cup.

 

Speaking to sligorovers.com, the 42-year-old made stated that he always intended to remain in charge and is keen to build a legacy in Sligo.

 

“It is fantastic to sign a new deal. From the outset I stated my intention was to stay with the club and build on what we have already achieved so far.

 



“There is a burning desire to win more trophies, more titles, make that breakthrough in Europe and improve the structures of the club.

 

“We already have some great memories but I want to build a legacy here. The preparations for next season started several weeks ago and we’re making good progress. Winning the FAI Cup capped last season in style but we will strive to bring more honours to the club.”
