Waterford lose John Hayes
Extratime.ie can confirm that despite signing a new contract at the beginning of January, defender John Hayes will not be featuring for the Blues this season.
Hayes joined Waterford in 2004 from local side Waterford Bohemians and went on to have loan spells with Kilkenny and Cobh Ramblers. Current Waterford manager Stephen Henderson was in charge of Cobh at the time.
Henderson wasted no time in signing Hayes for the 2009 season, making him one of his first signings.
Hayes was due to be given the captains armband, but in a shock move informed Henderson and his management team that he did not wish to be a member of the team. Its understood he couldn't guarantee the level of commitment that was required.
