Sligo Rovers defender Seamus Coleman will this week secure a lucrative move to English Premier League side Everton, according to reports.

Newspapers in Britain today suggest that the Republic of Ireland under 21 right back has agreed to join the Merseyside club, with the two clubs set to hammer out a fee in the coming days.

However, according to Sky Sports, Glasgow giants Celtic are also keen to secure the signature of Coleman.

Birmingham City and Ipswich Town have all been heavily linked with the player in recent weeks. Everton manager David Moyes is said to have travelled to Ireland last week to meet with the player. Coleman recently spent time on trial at Birmingham City and manager Alex Mcleish is believed to have been impressed by the full-back. Celtic have also shown an interest in the player, with Coleman last month turning out for the Glasgow side in a behind closed doors match.

Celtic's chances of snatching Coleman are sure to be boosted by the fact that former Sligo manager Willie McStay is now reserve team coach at Celtic. The Scottish club have shown a keen interest in players from the League of Ireland in recent times. Last summer they snapped up winger Paddy McCourt from Derry City and earlier this month they also swooped for Derry forward Niall McGinn.
