Rovers welcome Robinson back
Michael O'Neill has made his third new signing in three days for Shamrock Rovers, as former Hoop Shane Robinson has rejoined the club after spending the last five seasons at Drogheda United.
Robinson was a big favourite with the Hoops' fans during his previous time at the club and the Waterford-born winger was voted the club's Player of the Year in 2002.
"Shane's an exciting player and he's had a very successful career so far – I'm delighted that he's agreed to come back to Shamrock Rovers," says Hoops' boss O'Neill.
"Along with Ollie Cahill and Stephen Bradley, we're after bringing three very good and hugely experienced players to the club in the last couple of days. That's all very positive."
Robinson, who was one of many Drogheda United players looking for a new start, can't wait to wear the green and white Hoops again – especially with Tallaght on the horizon.
"Things have really changed since I was last at the club and, to their credit, the fans have really turned things around," says the 28-year-old. "It's no secret that I loved playing for Rovers and I'm delighted to be back.
"Obviously, the move to Tallaght makes this a very exciting year for everyone. I've also been hugely impressed by Michael O'Neill and can't wait for the season to start."
