Brady out, Walters a doubt
ROBBIE Brady is to undergo surgery on the groin injury that has forced him to withdraw from the Republic of Ireland squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers with Germany and Kazakhstan.
The twenty-one-year old was named in the 26-man squad for the double header which was confirmed by interim manager Noel King.
Brady has been showing good promise of late and on Saturday netted the only goal of the game from the penalty spot as Hull City defeated West Ham United.
King was aware of Brady's difficulties having confirmed to the media at his press conference that there was 'a danger' regarding the midfielder's fitness.
Brady aggravated the injury during Saturday's game and is now out of contention for the qualifiers.
There was better news on Jonathan Walters, although the Stoke City player may yet have to pull out.
He, too, is feeling the effects of a groin injury.
While he remains a possible inclusion for the games following a scan, Walters will be assessed by Stoke City's medics this week, before it will be determined whether he will join up with the squad when it assembles in Malahide on Monday.
