Leeson focusing on positives
Galway United CEO Nick Leeson has been speaking on local radio station Galway Bay FM about the decision the club has come to with regard to the coming season.
Speaking on what has been a turbulent 24 hours for the club, Leeson spoke of the "difficult" situation the club had been placed in when it became clear that Jeff Kenna had been in talks with St Patricks Athletic over the vacant managers position at Inchicore. It is unclear from the club's statement at what point in time Kenna tendered his resignation.
Leeson admitted to being "extremely upset" at Kenna's apparent lack of regard for the club but was looking to "focus on the positives going into the current campaign." He revealed that the club directors were locked in a room since 9am this morning trying to bring a satisfactory solution to an "unfortunate set of circumstances."
On Ian Foster's appointment, Leeson stressed that it was a positive development and that Foster was a key element in Galway's survival last season. Foster's first signing is the return to Terryland of Derek O'Brien after his spell with St Pats.
