Raheny United v Wexford Youths Women's AFC
Champions Raheny United have started the season in terrific form with two victories in their initial league games followed up by a 4-2 victory over Peamount United in the WFAI Cup quarter-finals last week.
New manager Terry Eviston has been very impressed with the quality of the squad he has inherited and is looking to help the Northsiders continue to raise their standards.
Eviston said: “It’ll take a while for me to settle in fully as I’m still new to ladies soccer. The dynamic is different to men’s football but I’ve been very impressed by the attitude to preparation and things being done right.
“We’ve a big squad with huge competition for places and it’ll be hard to keep people happy. What I can see straight away is that the standard of play is very high. I’m encouraging them to step it up a notch or two. We play good football and it’s a real eye-opener.
“I’m hoping more people will come to Morton Stadium to see these players play. The cup game against Peamount last week was a real example of the standards in Irish women’s football. We should have everybody available for Sunday. We have to keep things moving along this week against Wexford.”
