Glynn signs for Longford Town
Former Galway United striker Derek Glynn has been unveiled as new Longford Town boss' Alan Gough's latest signing since taking over at Flancare Park in December.
The pacy frontman was often on the periphery following Jeff Kenna's arrival as Galway United manager last season. The Claremorris native did, however, still manage to net some crucial goals as Galway beat the drop, none more so than his last minute winner at the Carlisle Grounds in July.
Glynn came to prominence during the previous season when Tony Cousins plucked him from the junior ranks in Mayo and the newcomer grabbed the opportunity with both hands, scoring 10 goals and earning the League's Player of the Month accolade in June.
Alan Gough knows all about Glynn's talents as he was assistant manager to Cousins at the time and he will hoping a prolonged run in the first team will see Longford bear the fruits of Glynn's undoubted potential.
*** Another player who won't be returning to Terryland Park this year is Scottish left-full Marc McCulloch, who has returned to his native country to re-join Second Division strugglers Arbroath.
