Unrest continues at Cobh
Supporters group, Friends of Cobh Ramblers (FOCR) have released a statement calling for chairman Barry Walsh to resign from his position.
In the statement, spokesperson’s Michael O’Donovan and Declan Murphy, say that “we now call on Barry Walsh and his committee to take the honourable course of action and resign with immediate effect.”
However, Cobh’s players have also issued a statement, which backs the committee. It read: “We are 100% behind the Management Committee and the FAI rescue proposal. It is the only way forward to keep League of Ireland football at St. Colman’s Park. Playing football is what we are about, and we are all committed to playing for Cobh Ramblers. We further believe that through the clubs efforts to secure this FAI deal, our team and club will come back stronger in the next season.
While the players also stated that they are willing to do their utmost to ensure that the club receive a licence for the upcoming season.
“We as players will do all in our power to ensure our club is granted a League of Ireland licence from the FAI for the coming season” added the players spokesperson.
Meanwhile, the club are accepting applications for the position of first team manager after Stephen Henderson’s resignation following the clubs relegation from the Premier Division.
