Raheny United end UEFA campaign with victory
Crusaders 1 Raheny United 2
Raheny United finished their UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign on a high this evening when they beat hosts Crusaders 2-1 in a close encounter at Seaview.
Mary Waldron bagged the Raheny winner in the 58th minute when she steered the ball home after Crusaders failed to clear a Siobhan Killeen corner.
The hosts had opened the scoring in the 11th minute through Danielle McDowell then Noelle Murray leveled for Raheny in the 29th minute with a strike from the edge of the box.
Murray was unlucky not to add a third goal in the 85th minute after a Kate McCabe corner but home keeper Angela Platt made a decent save.
The Bus Éireann Women’s National League champions will now concentrate on their domestic action and defending their crown as they play the first game of the new season at home to DLR Waves on August 25.
