Bohemians goalkeeper Brian Murphy has been named as the eircom/Soccer Writers Association of Ireland Player of the Month for November.

The Waterford native picked up the award after starring for Bohs in the FAI Ford Cup Final, a game which the Dublin side won to claim a historic league and cup double. Murphy pulled off a strong of fine saves in the final against Derry City, including two spot-kicks in the penalty shoot after the game had finished 2-2 after 90-minutes and extra-time.

Murphy is also in the running for the eircom/SWAI Personality of the Year award, which is to be presented in Dublin tomorrow night (Thursday, December 4th, 2008). Murphy has also been nominated for the Goalkeeper of the Year award, which he won last season.

The shot-stopper has became a firm favourite with the Bohs fans, and it is rumoured that a string of clubs from the UK are interested in taking him across the water in the January transfer window. Bohs manager Pat Fenlon has blasted Ireland manager Geovanni Trapattoni for not having called up Murphy to the international squad for the recent friendly against Poland – a sentiment which is echoed by virtually everyone who has seen the ‘keeper in action over the past nine months.
