Doyle Deal Done
In a joint statement from both Cork City and Reading, it has been confirmed that Reading have bought out Cork City's sell-on clause in Kevin Doyle's contract.
'Cork City and Reading have concluded a deal on Kevin Doyle’s sell-on clause for an undisclosed sum. Nick Hammond, Director of Football for Reading said: “Reading welcome its excellent relationship with Cork City and sees this relationship continuing to prosper successfully for both clubs.”'
With The Rebels as poor as a Zimbabwean farmer, and The Royals realising the meteoric rise in Doyle's value, it seems this deal was in the best interests of both clubs. Many Cork fans were hoping Doyle made a big money move to the Barclays Premiership during the summer while their club was going through a financial crisis, however that failed to prove the case.
Kevin Doyle scored 25 goals in 75 appearances for Cork before moving to the Madjeski Stadium in 2005.
