Waterford United confirm three departures
Waterford United have released three players as they continue their promotion bid.
The Blues have added a number of players to their squad as a busy few weeks beckons with important league games in their promotion challenge as well as an illustrious friendly against Premier League champions Manchester United in two weeks.
To balance their squad, three players have no departed. Paudie Quinn departed weeks ago and the club have now confirmed that Daragh Walshe, Robbie Hughes and Peter Keegan.
Goalkeeper Robbie Hughes and striker Peter Keegan depart having not made league appearances. Hughes saw changes slim with Craig Hyland and Chip Sanders ahead in the Blues squad.
The Blues kept faith with Peter Keegan despite needed surgery after injury in Oriel Park last season, an injury, which had seen him only return to training recently. He had not featured this season in the squad.
Striker Daragh Walshe also saw chances limited this season and has returned to south-east rivals Wexford Youths.
A club statement read: “The club wish to thank Daragh for all his efforts in the Blue jersey for the past season-and-a-half, and wish him well in his future career. They would also like to express their thanks and best wishes to Robbie Hughes and Peter Keegan, who have both also moved on in recent days.”
Meanwhile the Blues have confirmed that tickets remain on sale for their friendly match against Manchester United. Tickets are on sale on the club website for the game on Thursday July 18th in the RSC. The Blues have played Liverpool and Ipswich Town in the past seasons and also face Crystal Palace on August 3rd.
