Craig Curran agrees Blues deal

Craig Curran has put pen to paper on a deal that will see him join Limerick FC on a permanent deal until the end of the 2014 season.

After a loan spell from Rochdale expired, both Curran and Limerick got their wish and the Liverpudlian forward signed for the Shannonsiders on Monday. The Blues won the signature of Curran, despite numerous clubs in England being interested in acquiring the striker's services.

Curran sparked joyous celebrations at Thomond Park on Saturday night when he smashed home to secure Limerick's comeback win over Dundalk, before missing the EA Sports Cup quarter-final because his registration process hadn't been completed.

Speaking about his move, Curran admitted the supporters were key to his decision. "The way the fans have welcomed me, the way they’ve been, they’re probably the best I’ve played for and I’ve played for some decent clubs.”

The striker was also quick to quash any suggestion that he wanted to head back to England. “There were some rumours going around about me wanting to go back [to the UK] but that was never the case, I actually went to the gaffer and told him I wanted to stay before he approached me and it was great to get it done and dusted.”
