Limerick -v- Sligo Rovers

LIMERICK

Limerick entertain Sligo Rovers for the second time in six weeks as they face the League champions in the Quarter-Final of the EA Sports Cup at Thomond Park.

The Blues go into this game having only just played a League game on Saturday when they came from 2-0 down to a record a 3-2 victory over Dundalk.

Pat Purcell and Steve McGann remain out through injury while Patrick Nzuzi is unlikely to feature following a knock picked up in Saturday’s win. Jeffrey Judge misses out through suspension.

SLIGO ROVERS

Sligo Rovers will be aiming to build on a positive start after returning from mid-season break following a 2-0 victory over Shelbourne on Friday.

The Bit O’Red are still without Raffaele Cretaro (hamstring), Danny Ventre (leg)  and Aaron Greene (foot) through injury while Anthony Elding serves the last game of his four match suspension. Joseph Ndo is fit to play despite a knock picked up in Tolka Park.

Rovers boss Ian Baraclough spoke to sligorovers.com ahead of this game and expressed his desire to win the competition.

"It was all about rest and recovery over the weekend and being prepared for Monday night. It is a trophy that is at stake. I want to win it, I want to be a Sligo Rovers manager that has won a League Cup and the players will share a similar ambition.

"If you have a trophy to try and go to win, you try and compete for it because winning breeds confidence. We are still in four competitions. I want to keep it that way and do very well in all four.

"Limerick showed great mettle to turn it around against Dundalk. The two games between the sides so far this season have been quite close. We were disappointed not to come away with a win in the last game in Thomond and we will try to make our chances count like we've done in the last couple of outings."
