Taylor admits two points were lost
Limerick FC boss Stuart Taylor admitted it was two points dropped for his side as they came away from the Bowl with a 1-1 draw against the ever-improving UCD.
Despite finishing the game with nine men and lacking that killer edge in front of goal, Limerick are creating enough chances to put games to bed, but this trend must change if Limerick are to secure a top half finish.
The positives for Taylor are in the chance creation, albeit the conversion rate is less than impressive, given the excess of opportunities being fashioned. “For me, I would agree that it's two points dropped. The points were there for us and we had more than enough chances to go and win the game. If you don't put the chances away, you don't score goals. If you don't score goals, you don't win games. It's great that they're creating chances. When we went down to ten, we were creating chances. Even when we went down to nine, we still had a chance to win it. It's just a case of putting them over the line, and sometimes – a little bit of luck.”
While some say you make your own luck, Taylor feels that on the night, the little things just seemed to favour the hosts. “I felt any time there was a little stramash in the box, it fell to them. We need to keep doing what we're doing and the positive to take is that we're still creating the chances.”
With Limerick's disciplinary record being remarkably poor up until now, Jeffrey Judge's reaction to a poor challenge in the latter part of the game won't be doing his side's reputation any favours. Taylor admits it was a mistake from Judge, and that discipline is something they have to look at. “It's a concern. I've spoken to Judgey after the game. He's reacted to it – it's a little bit of inexperience on his part. It was a poor challenge – but not the only one in the game that we were on the end of, but our players can't take the bait. Going back to Axel's sending-off in Drogheda – players have to be cute, because other players are being cute against us. Maybe it's the experience of playing in this league, or our desire to win games, but it's something we'll have to look at it.”
