Cork City’s come-from-behind win against Bohemians on Friday night means the Dublin sides only victories in the campaign have come against the bottom three sides UCD, Bray and Shelbourne.

Speaking to Extratime.ie after the game manager Aaron Callaghan was upbeat about the performance of his young team and noted a drastic improvement from the side which had lost to UCD three days previous.

“It wasn’t much improved, it was absolutely totally different team. I thought our performance was absolutely magnificent in the second half, I thought we dominated the game, couple of half chances and then they go and nick a goal on the break.”

Numerous times this season Bohs have failed to convert good performances into results, with Friday being no different.

“I felt comfortable there, I just spoke to Tommy (Dunne) after the game and his first words to me were we didn’t deserve that and he’s right they didn’t deserve it. We were the better side and we just didn’t get the result.”

Particularly impressive for the Gypsies was the link up play between strikers Chris Lyons and Dave Scully. Callaghan believes that some extra work is necessary to ensure a better goal-scoring return from the two

“Goals change games that’s important, we know that, we know that we need to do a bit of work in the last third. Their keeper made two fantastic saves tonight which obviously changed the result.”

Next up for Bohs is a trip to arch rivals Shamrock Rovers next Friday. Callaghan believes it won’t be hard to pick his side up for such a big game.

“Not at all, I mean that’s a great performance, the fans applauded us off, the application of the players as a group was absolutely tremendous and you know if they continue to give that attitude in terms of training I think we’ll be fine.”

On the injury front goalkeeper Dean Delany came off midway through the second half, however it’s too early to tell the extent of the damage.

“We won’t know until that’s all assessed tomorrow. I mean obviously it’s a bit of inflammation I think but again we have 24 hours until we know the story.”
