Limerick 37 vs Kildare County

A game of little significance in the wider scale of things but the home support will still turn out in their numbers for Limerick’s clash with Kildare County at Jackman Park this Friday (Kick-off 7:45pm). Limerick have cemented their name on fifth spot while Kildare County are now mathematically stuck to the bottom of the First Division. Limerick 37 host Kildare County in their last home game of a very successful season for the home side.

Saying that, a big home crowd is expected at Jackman Park tomorrow night due to the new found optimism and attractive football now associated with Mike Kerley’s young team.

In what was expected to be a difficult season under Mike Kerley, Limerick’s young side have been the form team in the second half of the season producing “Championship winning form” according to Shelbourne manager Dermot Keely. This excellent form has seen the Shannonsiders rise to a respectable fifth place in the First Division.

Limerick are the form team coming into Friday’s game and are the clear favourites for all three points after an impressive 1-0 victory away to Dundalk last Thursday.

Speaking about his side’s performance against Dundalk Mike Kerley said “Yeah, it was a great win, ““Since mid-season our form has been excellent. It’s down to an accumulation of a lot of things. We signed some important players during the transfer window and all the players have bought into what we’re trying to achieve. The key thing however has been the work rate of the players. That has made the difference.”

Even though Limerick had little to play for last Thursday night their determination and attacking style shows these players’ ambition to stay in Mike Kerley’s plans for next season. “The players obviously want to be involved with the club next season” admitted Mike Kerley. “That was certainly has been a motivating factor for them.”

Limerick hope to continue their form and their unbeaten run going into Friday’s game at Jackman Park. Mike Kerley intends to introduce new faces for Friday’s game. “I want to bring in a few new lads to see if they can make the step up to Eircom League football”

Meanwhile Kildare will have to be careful that they don’t have one eye on their promotion/ relegation play-off with Mervue United in two weeks time. Tony Cousin’s side face Mervue United on Tuesday 18th November (kick-off 7:45pm) at Fahy’s Field

Limerick 37 Team News: Mike Kerley is keen to give some of his young squad a chance in their last home game of the season. He already has selection worries with captain Pat Purcell out with a groin strain he picked up against Waterford two weeks ago. Mike Kerley is also without the services of John Tierney and Brendan Daly who are both suspended for Friday night’s clash.
