Connell and O’Connor name Ireland U16 squads

Ireland’s under 16 head coaches Dave Connell and Tom O’Connor have announced their squads ahead of next week’s UEFA Under 16 development tournament.
The Women’s tournament kicks off first next Tuesday, May 7 with Ireland grouped with the Czech Republic, Belgium and Wales. Games will be played in Frank Cooke Park, The Oscar Traynor Development Centre, Shanowen Road and Whitehall. This tournament sees a brand new age category being introduced for Ireland’s Women’s players.
The Boy’s tournament kicks off on Sunday, May 12 with Ireland grouped with Germany, Romania and Belgium finishing on Wednesday May 15. Again games will be played in Frank Cooke Park, The Oscar Traynor Development Centre, Shanowen Road and Whitehall.
The aim of the UEFA Development tournament is to offer U-16 national teams an additional opportunity to play competitive matches at international level. UEFA have chosen this youth age category as it is considered to be a crucial stage in the player’s development pathway to elite level. Entry into each game is free.
