The club will be setting aside two tickets for any player with a first team appearance who gets in touch with the club ahead of this week’s game against table toppers Sligo

Former Rovers players, who all regularily attend games in Tallaght, Robbie Gaffney, Terry Palmer, Pat Byrne, Mick Leech and Mick Byrne (pictured) were all present at the stadium this week to launch the initiative.

“We see this as a chance for former players to come along and support the team in a big game and meet up with other former Hoops who they might not have seen in a long time” said Mark Lynch, Shamrock Rovers’ marketing director

“Maybe some will even reignite their connection with the club and come along on a more regular basis. We have a saying at Rovers: ‘Once a Hoop, always a Hoop’ and we want to show that on Friday night.
