Huddersfield Town have confirmed that they have signed Jake Carroll from St Patrick’s Athletic.

The left sided full back, who can also play in midfield, had been on two separate trials with the English Championship side before manager Mark Robbins signed the player for an undisclosed fee.

Speaking to the Huddersfield Town website Robins said “Jake impressed me a lot when he was here a few weeks ago. He is left-sided, quick, powerful and has a good attitude with an aptitude to learn quickly. He will have to adapt to the style of football in England, but he arrives with the challenge of breaking into our first team.”

Carroll played underage football with Home Farm and Belvedere before joining St Pats in 2010. He made his Pats debut in a 5-2 win over Galway United at Richmond Park on 2nd May 2011 and scored his first goal for the club in a 3-0 win over Crumlin United in an FAI Cup third round game in June of the same year.
