Saints announce Clune as main sponsor

Saint Patrick’s Athletic today announced Clune Construction L.P. as their main club sponsor for the 2013 season.

The news is a boost to the Saints after having no main sponsor for the opening two months of the season following Nissan’s failure to renew their sponsorship deal with the Inchicore club.  The deal comes into immediate effect with Clune Construction L.P. to be fully on display in Richmond Park and on the club’s kit from this Friday in the Saints’ home fixture against Derry City.

Saints’ officials confirmed the deal has been made with a view to being extended beyond this season, and is also an improvement on their previous sponsorship deal with Nissan.

Clune Construction L.P. is one of America’s largest interior construction management firms with offices in Chicago, Washington DC, Los Angeles and New York.  Founded in 1979 by Irish man Mike Clune, the firm currently employs over 180 staff.  Clune’s sponsorship of the Saints will be part of their marketing strategy to launch the Clune Construction L.P. brand in Ireland and in Europe.

Negotiations for the new sponsorship deal were helped by the link between Saints’ chairman, Garrett Kelleher, and Clune Construction L.P. owner, Mike Clune.   “I have known Mike Clune for over 25 years.  We both emigrated to Chicago around the same time,” commented Kelleher.

“Clune Construction L.P.  is not only one of the largest interior construction firms in the the U.S. but one of the most reputable and we are very fortunate to have such a high calibre sponsor.”

“As a hard working and successful sporting organisation, we feel Clune Construction is an appropriate and fitting partner.  We feel the collaboration will provide numerous successes both on and off the field and will give the supporters and the team a great boost ahead of our journey to Europe this July for the Europa League.”

Commenting on the agreement on the sponsorship deal, Mike Clune admitted to being excited of the link-up between Clune and the Inchicore side feeling it would bring many advantages to the Clune Construction Company.  “We are excited to form a partnership with this great iconic Irish sporting institution as we continue to promote our brand in Ireland and on the global stage.”

The Saints will be hoping that this good news, coupled with their four game winning run, will further help their chances in Friday’s clash against second placed Derry City in Richmond Park (kick-off 7.45pm).
